All Starting Positions for 2 Note Harmony (January 2010)
Guitar Modes method Lesson page will give you the formula to locate starting positions for double stop harmonies (2 note) for the major scale and all the modes of the major scale.

The required notes are the 1st and 3rd notes of the major scale and 1st and 3rd notes of each mode of the major scale.

For example, there are 6 starting positions for major modes based on the root note (starting note, say A note, E 6th string 5th fret). There is also a neat outcome for locating the starting positions for all minor modes.

If you are a guitarist you will know that these are invaluable tools, giving a huge amount of options for improvising.

This can take a long time to figure out but with the Guitarmodes method
you will gain the knowledge with very little effort because it is another outcome after learning the basic method.

This is NOT just another ''every teacher has their own method''.
It is unique, it is not unconventional.

Pentatonic Scales Over Modes (January 2011)
Guitarmodes has another unique simple teaching method, this time for locating and playing minor Pentatonic scales across the fretboard at the same time as playing major modes.

This is an exercise in bringing major modes and pentatonic scales together as one, as they should be taught initially.
You may have seen articles on mixing scales and modes, things like 'can you play minor pentatonic over Dorian mode?'. Guitarmodes has clear precise explanations.

Do you know that there are 3 positions that you can play the old pentatonic box shapes when playing over the major modes. You could consider starting the box shapes on 3 particular notes from the 3 modes.

Don't worry, we teach this at beginner level using beginner terminology.

Experienced players unfortunately, will have to apply a little (much) discipline to take advantage of this knowledge. So hard to go back to basics, fortunately you will find the GM method to be quick.

Build Diagonal Chords from Modes (November 2010)
The 1 3 5 7 9 11 and 3 5 7 9 11 13 are located diagonally to create major based chords such as C major 7th, Cmajor 9th etc.
The 5 7 9 11 13 1 3 are located diagonally to create all dominant 7th based chords such as C7th, C9th, C11th, C13th.

This is a small example of diagonal chord structure (chords sitting under 1 finger 1 fret similar to the open C chord formation) easily derived from the Guitarmodes method.

Only experienced players will understand the above description.

Guitarmodes method makes this knowledge available to students at all levels.

Modes in One Position (November 2010)
Guitarmodes method provides a way to play one octave of each mode in one location. This is based on the Relative approach to modes.

This can be done for each major scale. Obviously by moving the fingering to the required starting position.

One of the many outcomes of learning the Guitarmodes method will be to play all modes of any chosen scale in one location, not just the major scale.

You will find this to be a small task with Guitarmodes method as your basis.
